SPOTLIGHT: The American Heiress Book Review & Summary
Cora Cash is the richest girl in America. She has whatever she wants, and then some. However, Cora’s mother has a much higher goal in mind for her daughter, and she is prepared to spend whatever it takes to achieve it. Cora’s mother wants her to have something that is not available in America, a title. Cora and her mother travel off to England to find just the right eligible, titled bachelor in need of their vast wealth.
Cora goes along with her mother’s plan, but she falls into more than she expected. In the process of shopping for an available title to buy into, Cora genuinely falls in love. But she also stumbles into the very complicated life of English high society. She is the outsider in a foreign land with behaviors that are very different from those to which she is accustomed. Worse yet, very few people among her new family and acquaintances are forthcoming with details on how she is expected to adapt to their way of life. Cora must learn the hard way how to fit into the English aristocracy.
Cora is equal parts stubborn and vulnerable in her new role as duchess. She breathes new life into her new estate of Lulworth, and she makes any number of waves along the way. She begins to understand what it is to be an English duchess, but she never loses touch with what makes her American. Along the way she meets with success and failure, happiness and melancholy, and love and betrayal.
