Supporting Educational Excellence in Our Communities

The 2015 – 2016 school year marks the 20th anniversary of BJ’s Adopt-A-School program. To date, we have provided more than $1.9 million in funding to thousands of schools, helping ensure children receive a quality education.

BJ’s Adopt-A-School Program launched in 1996 with a single school. Over the years, we’ve expanded it to help public elementary schools throughout the 15 states in which we have Clubs. Our mission is to provide our “adopted” schools with support they can use to enhance existing programs and curriculum objectives.

How BJ's Adopt-A-School Program Works

Schools participating in BJ’s Adopt-A-School Giving program receive:

  • A one-time donation to use toward discretionary programs, such as field trips
and special events, reading enhancement programs or other educational needs.
  • A complimentary BJ’s Business Membership, providing access to low-cost, high-quality supplies.

This long-running program is just another way we’re showing how much we care about our Members and
the communities that they live in.

In 2015, BJ’s adopted 213 public elementary schools. To see the full list of 2015 – 2016 Adopt-A-School partner schools, click here.

We’re Celebrating Our 20th Anniversary by Supporting Amazing Educators!

We decided to celebrate our anniversary — and honor the spirit of BJ’s Adopt-A-School program — by supporting educators and students as they work toward their goals for the next 20 years.

Thanks to the generous support of General Mills, we were able to offer five $10,000 grants and invite teachers and students to send us a multimedia description of their dreams, their goals and how they’ll achieve them with help from BJ’s.

After reviewing the entries we can truly say, it was a hard decision. Take a minute and check out the highlights from the winning schools’ proposals. We think you’ll find them as fun, unique and inspiring as we did.

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS: Public school teachers from across America post project requests at for materials they need like books, art supplies, software — the list is long!

Donors are people just like you and companies like us — people interested in supporting education, who search the site and give to the project that inspires them most.

When a project reaches its funding goal, the materials are shipped to the school, and donors receive photos of the project and a letter from the teacher.

BJ’s Charitable Foundation is proud to partner with to help teachers and provide classroom funding to schools in the communities we serve.
