BJ’s Membership Terms

We are pleased that you have selected BJ’s, and we look forward to serving you. Terms, Types and Features of BJ’s Membership are described below, and are always available at the Member Service Desk in Clubs and at BJs.com/terms.

Membership. Membership is non-transferable, and available to those 18 years of age or older. BJ’s reserves the right to require valid government-issued identification for Membership enrollments and changes. The Primary Member (or an owner or officer of a Business Membership) shall have the sole authority to make changes to the Membership and receive and request appropriate information. Membership Cards are to be used only by the individuals to whom they are issued, and remain the property of BJ’s. BJ’s also reserves the right to deny Membership to any applicant and terminate Membership at its discretion and for any reason. BJ’s cashiers will check Membership Cards at point of sale for identity purposes.

Club Shopping. BJ’s reserves the right to require that Membership Cards be shown upon entry into the Club. No sales will be made to any person unless such person has a valid Membership Card or Pass. Each Cardholder may bring two guests; however, guests do not have purchasing privileges. Cardholders may be required to purchase any packages opened or damaged by themselves or their guests. Parents must keep their children with them at all times. BJ’s may refuse entry to anyone at any time and reserves the right to inspect any bag, backpack, briefcase, or container upon entry or exit. BJ’s inspects all receipts and carts as Members exit the Club. BJ’s does not offer rain checks for out-of-stock items. BJ’s reserves the right to limit quantities.  BJ’s strictly prohibits solicitation or other disruptive conduct on its premises and may require anyone engaged in such conduct to leave the Club.

Check Writing. Check writing is subject to approval. All returned checks are subject to a service fee as determined by state law and any legal fees incurred by BJ’s to recoup payment will be added to the service fee.

ANY CLAIM ARISING IN ANY WAY OUT OF YOUR BJ’S MEMBERSHIP OR YOUR SHOPPING IN BJ’S CLUBS OR ON BJS.COM WILL BE GOVERNED BY MASSACHUSETTS LAW.  EITHER YOU OR BJ’S MAY ELECT THAT ANY SUCH CLAIM BE RESOLVED SOLELY BY BINDING ARBITRATION UNDER THE RULES AND PROCEDURES OF THE AMERICAN ARBITRATION ASSOCIATION.  THERE SHALL BE NO RIGHT OR AUTHORITY FOR ANY CLAIMS TO BE ARBITRATED ON A CLASS ACTION BASIS.

Membership Expiration and Renewals- The month and year in which your Membership expires appear on your register receipts, and on your “My Account” page on bjs.com. Your Membership expires on the last day of the month and year shown. Paid Memberships renewed within two months after expiration will be extended 12 months from the expiration date. Paid Memberships renewed more than two months after expiration will be extended for 12 months from the last day of the month of renewal.

BJ’s may change these Membership Terms at any time, without notice to you.  If any change is found void or unenforceable, that change is severable and does not affect the validity of the remaining terms.  Your continued use of your Membership at BJ’s clubs or bjs.com constitutes your acceptance of the changes.  If you do not agree to such changes, you must cancel your membership.  

 

BJ’s Membership Types

Promotional Memberships
No cost or low cost, limited length (for example, 60 Day) Memberships are offered from time to time so that you can experience the savings and benefits that BJ’s Membership offers. Promotional Memberships are by invitation only. Offer must be presented at the time of enrollment. 

Promotional Membership provides one Primary Membership Card and a Household Card (also known as a “Second Card”), provided at no additional charge, that may be issued to a person residing at the same residence as the Primary Member as confirmed by BJ’s (a “household” is defined as one household address).  Promotional Memberships are not eligible to add supplemental Memberships.

Inner Circle (Personal) Memberships
Inner Circle Membership provides one Primary Membership Card and a Household Card (also known as a “Second Card”), provided at no additional charge, that may be issued to a person residing at the same residence as the Primary Member as confirmed by BJ’s (a “household” is defined as one household address).  Up to (3) additional supplemental Memberships may be purchased for the same household. Inner Circle Members in good standing may upgrade their Membership to a BJ’s Perks Rewards™ Membership.

Business Memberships
Business Membership provides one Primary Business Card and one Business Free Supplemental Card (also known as a “Second Card”), provided at no additional charge, that may only be issued to a business associate and up to eight (8) Supplemental Cards may be purchased. (A “business” is defined as one business address.)  Business Members in good standing may upgrade their Membership to a BJ’s Perks Rewards Membership.

If the Business Member intends to purchase merchandise for resale and claim an exemption from sales tax, BJ’s Wholesale Club must have a valid, signed state Resale Organization Certificate on file at the Club of Membership. If the Member is purchasing merchandise on behalf of an exempt organization, BJ’s Wholesale Club must have a valid signed state Exempt Organization Certificate on file. The Member must accurately complete the Supplemental Certificate of Resale or Exempt Organization Certificate provided by the cashier at the time of purchase. The Primary Cardholder shall immediately notify BJ’s Wholesale Club if the Resale Certificate on file is invalid or if the description of products to be resold has been changed. BJ’s may require confirmation of exemption or Resale Certificate at its discretion. All purchases by tax exempt organizations in the states of CT, ME and RI must be paid for with an organizational check or credit card. In the states of FL and NY, all purchases by tax exempt organizations must be paid for with an organizational check, credit card, or cash.  BJ’s does not sell alcoholic beverages for resale except in the state of ME.

The Primary Cardholder agrees that in the event the Primary or Supplemental Card holders fail to pay sales tax, all will hold BJ’s Wholesale Club harmless from and indemnify BJ’s against any claim, loss, or expense arising out of such nonpayment, and BJ’s Wholesale Club reserves the right to suspend or terminate the corresponding Membership in such case.

Military Memberships
US Military personnel, both active and veteran, may enroll in-Club for a reduced membership fee.  Active military ID, “Veteran” designation on state-issued ID, or other proof of service is required.  Military Memberships have the same features and benefits as an Inner Circle Membership.

College Memberships
A College Membership provides one Primary Membership Card.  Up to three (3) additional supplemental Memberships may be purchased for use by a person residing at the same residence as the Primary Member. Second Cards are not available to College Members. BJ’s requires valid school-issued identification for College Membership enrollments. College Members may not upgrade their Membership to a BJ’s Perks Rewards Membership.

BJ’s Perks Rewards™ Memberships
BJ’s Perks Rewards Program (“BJ’s Perks Program”) allows you to earn awards of 2% of Eligible Purchases. You may only enroll in one BJ’s Perks Rewards Membership. “Eligible Purchases” means purchases at BJ’s Club front-end registers and on BJs.com. Eligible Purchases do not include BJ’s Club purchases of exempted items restricted by law or regulation, sales taxes, bottle deposits, alcoholic beverages, cigarettes or tobacco-related products, lottery tickets, gift cards, propane, gasoline, BJ’s Member Services (such as auto buying program, cellular phone services, optical department, travel), other purchases not recorded through bjs.com or Club front-end registers or as posted at the Membership Desk.

Awards are digital certificates issued in $20 increments available at, and to be used for merchandise and Membership fees at, the front-end registers of BJ’s Club locations. Awards are issued when your Program balance reaches $20. You or your Second Card holder may choose to use awards or save them. Supplemental Members may not redeem awards. If you choose to use awards, you must use all the awards that are presented to you. However, you may not use awards to create a negative cash register balance. Awards will be redeemed on a “first in, first out” basis, such that the first award earned will be the first redeemed. Awards will become available within 1-2 business days after they are issued. Your BJ’s Perks Program balance will be shown on your register receipts, and on your “My Account” page on bjs.com. Earnings will be added to your BJ’s Perks Program balance within 1-2 days.  Awards will not exceed $500 for a 12-month period. Only one Membership card may earns awards in each transaction.  We reserve the right to verify and adjust your BJ’s Perks Program balance.

Awards will expire six (6) months from the date they are issued. Once awards expire, they may not be redeemed. Your BJ’s Perks Program balance will be reduced by the number of awards issued. Purchases that are returned or refunded or otherwise adjusted will be deducted from your BJ’s Perks Program balance. Such deductions may result in a negative BJ’s Perks Program balance, in which case, any future earnings will be applied to reduce that negative balance. Awards have no cash value, and cannot be purchased, sold or redeemed for cash. Awards are not transferable.

If you cancel your BJ’s Perks Rewards Membership and enroll in an Inner Circle Membership you will forfeit any partial BJ’s Perks Program balance and will no longer accumulate earnings to your BJ’s Perks Program balance. Inner Circle Members may use unexpired awards at Member pricing.  If you cancel your BJ’s Membership, you can use your awards at non-Member pricing.

We may from time to time make special offers for you to accumulate bonus earnings on specific purchases. Availability of any special offer is subject to change without notice.

BJ’s Membership Features

All BJ’s Memberships have the following features:

We Protect Your Privacy. BJ’s respects your right to privacy and our documented Privacy Policy details our practices and policies. We are the sole owner of collected information and we only share this information with third parties in the limited situations described in our Privacy Policy. Please visit www.bjs.com to read the BJ’s Privacy Policy in its entirety, or call BJ’s Member Care at 800-BJS-CLUB (257-2582) to request a copy.

BJ’s EASY RenewalSM Program. Members, other than BJ’s Perks Plus and BJ’s Perks Elite Members, who are eligible for BJ’s EASY Renewal Program (the “Program”) must actively enroll. If you elect to join the Program at the time of your renewal, all Memberships renewed will be included in the Program. If you elect to join the Program during an enrollment, all Memberships enrolled will be part of the Program. If you elect to join the Program while upgrading your Primary Membership to BJ’s Perks Rewards, only the upgraded Membership will be included in the Program. If you elect to join the Program at any time other than during a Membership enrollment, renewal, or upgrade, you will be asked to select which active Supplemental Memberships will be included in the Program. Under the Program, your membership fee automatically will be charged to the credit or debit card you authorize. The membership fee will be charged on the 1st day of the month in which the membership is set to expire, and you will renew as of your expiration date. You will be sent a reminder notification 30 days prior to this renewal charge, specifying the amount of the charge and the date. You may actively cancel or manage your EASY Renewal Program participation on bjs.com or by calling 800-257-2582.  BJ’s Perks Plus and BJ’s Perks Elite Members may change your BJ’s EASY Renewal status only by calling 800-257-2582.

We Accept A Variety of Payment Methods and Coupons. BJ’s accepts MasterCard®, Visa®, American Express® and Discover® Network both at Clubs and for online shopping at BJs.com. Cash, checks, debit cards, and EBT are accepted in Clubs. BJ’s accepts manufacturers’ coupons for merchandise purchased at the register in any Club where the product is sold. BJ’s enforces all rules of redemption as stated on coupons. BJ’s reserves the right to limit the number of coupons redeemed per item and per transaction. BJ’s reserves the right to restrict issuance of coupons and publications to selected Members.  

You Have A Membership Money-Back Guarantee. Members who are dissatisfied may cancel their Membership at any time and request a refund of Membership fees paid for the current Membership period at all BJ’s Club locations. Any cancellation by a Primary Member can be made at the Club or sent in writing via letter to BJ’s Wholesale Club, Inc., Attn: Membership, 25 Research Drive, Westborough, MA 01581. Refunds will not be paid for second or subsequent cancellations. Cancellation of Primary Membership will cancel Supplemental Memberships. Membership fee refunds will be paid only to the Primary Member. Rewards upgrade fees are not subject to this policy and will not be refunded.

We Will Reissue Gift Cards. BJ’s will reissue a lost Gift Card only with the original receipt, which contains the Gift Card number. BJ’s will reissue the remaining balance on record as of the date of requested reissuance.

We Accept Returns. Merchandise purchased in the Club may be returned in the Club for a refund or exchange except as noted below. Computers and electronics are returnable within ninety (90) days of purchase. Repair of products covered under a manufacturer’s limited warranty must be handled through an authorized service center and should not be returned to BJ’s Wholesale Club.
