What is a Primary Member?

A primary member is the person who purchases a BJ's membership under his or her name. You may review your membership status by referring to the lower-right corner of your membership card.

With certain limited exceptions, the primary member is the only person on the membership that can make changes. Per our membership terms"The primary member (or an owner or officer of a business membership) has sole authority to make changes to the membership, including any associated supplemental memberships, and to request and receive appropriate information.” However, as further explained in our membership terms, when you add a household member (or complimentary supplemental member) to your account, you authorize that member to have access to your membership information, upgrade or renew the membership (including all eligible memberships on the account), apply for a credit card through the BJ’s One® Mastercard® program, and enroll the membership (including all eligible memberships on the account) in BJ’s Easy Renewal® program, and manage such enrollment. Please remember that as the primary member, you are responsible for the members added to your membership, including their compliance with our membership terms.
