Mangos are fragrant, super juicy, and sweet. The honey mango is also known as the Ataulfo or champagne mango. It is smaller in size than the red mango and has a uniquely bright yellow skin that wrinkles slightly when it ripens. The non-fibrous flesh has a wonderfully creamy texture and a super thin pit. These tropical fruits can be an every day treat. They are packed with over 20 vitamins and minerals including A and C, making them a superfood. They contain enzymes that act as a digestive aid. Just beware – the savory sweetness comes with a high sugar level. If these mangos are too firm when purchased, leave out on your counter at room temperature until they ripen. They can be used for everything from entrée salads to fresh salsas and luscious desserts. Our favorite way to use them is by pureeing them and freezing to use in smoothies and sorbets.
