Supporting Educational Excellence in Our Communities

BJ's "Adopt-A-School" ProgramBJ’s Adopt-A-School Program started in 1996 with a single school. Over the years, it has expanded to help schools in 15 states. The program’s mission: giving "adopted" schools support they can use to enhance existing programs and curriculum objectives while providing students with opportunities that will help them grow into active citizens in their communities. BJ’s offers 2 versions of the Adopt-A-School Program: our popular "Giving" Program and the new "GRADES" Program.

Schools participating in BJ’s Adopt-A-School Giving Program receive:

  • A one-time donation to use toward discretionary programs, such as field trips and special events, reading enhancement programs or other educational needs
  • A complimentary BJ’s Membership, providing access to low-cost, high-quality supplies
  • Invitations to BJ’s-sponsored events that promote good citizenship or build learning skills

The 2008-2009 school year marked the launch of BJ’s Adopt-A-School’s expanded GRADES Program. In addition to the benefits listed above, GRADES schools work with BJ’s Community Relations Specialists to develop customized partnership plans focused on curriculum enhancement, community involvement and fundraising. Schools then work with their local BJ’s Clubs to implement these plans.

Because of the intensive planning, coordination and resources the GRADES Program requires, it is currently available only in select areas.
