Rub an orange wedge around the rim of two footed cocktail glasses, then dip in the sugar

Using a pestle or the handle of a cooking spoon, muddle (gently pound) the ginger and half of the orange peel in a cocktail shaker to release their flavors

Add the brandy, orange liqueur, lemon juice, maple syrup and ice to the cocktail shaker. Cover and shake to combine

Strain the ingredients into the prepared cocktail glasses. Garnish with the reserved orange peel and serve immediately
