Southern-Style Greens

Bacon and green veggies are slow-cooked in salt, seasoning, and garlic and then stirred in beer, water, cedar, and molasses. Try this recipe for a delicious and healthy weekend meal.

Sauté bacon in a large pot over medium heat until almost crisp, about 10 min

Add onions to pan with bacon and rendered fat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until tender and golden, about 8 min

Add salt, seasoning and garlic. Cook, stirring, 2 min

Stir in beer, water, vinegar, cider and molasses, then add 1/3 of greens. Press down until they wilt, then repeat until all greens have been added

Cook uncovered for about 1 hr. 15 min., stirring often. If greens dry out, add a small amount of water

Spoon cooked greens into a serving bowl; serve hot
