The leaves have a warm, fresh, aromatic, sweet flavor with a cool effect on the tongue. Fresh Mint is used in teas, beverages, desserts, and ice cream. Can also be used as a garnish. Mints are aromatic, almost exclusively perennial herbs. Fresh Mint possess erect, branching stems and oblong to ovate or lanceolate leaves arranged in opposing pairs on the stems. Mint has been long known as an herbal remedy, easing queasy stomachs, calming stress and anxiety, and promoting restful sleep. The menthol quality of mint water has been shown to help clear nasal passages. Mint can be chopped, roughly or finely, or cut in thin strips. Add mint to vegetable salads, pestos, salsas, sauces, marinades, and grain or pasta salads of all kinds.
To keep Mint fresh, it is best to rinse the entire bunch with water, gently wrap it in paper towels, and then place it in a zip lock bag. Store in proper refrigeration to extend shelf life.
