Third, rake the seed into the soil. For best results, plant seed in the late spring or early summer when daily average soil temperatures are consistently between 65 degrees F and 80 degrees F, or air temperatures between 70 degrees F and 90 degrees F. Water daily or as needed to keep the soil moist for at least three weeks or until seedlings reach two inches in height.
