The First Alert Carbon Monoxide Alarm with 10-Year Battery and Digital Temperature Display detects dangerous carbon monoxide for up to 10 years. This carbon monoxide detector uses an electrochemical carbon monoxide sensor, the most accurate CO detection technology available, to detect the CO you can't see, smell, or taste in the air. A built-in 10-year lithium battery means you never need to worry about changing batteries during the lifetime of the alarm. This stylish CO monitor is designed to sit on top of a dresser or tabletop, and it has a backlit digital display that clearly shows the ambient temperature, as well as current and peak CO concentrations. A loud 85-decibel horn sounds if carbon monoxide levels reach dangerous levels, and a test/silence button silences the alarm and allows you to test its functionality.

    Replaced a 10-year old FirstAlert CO710 unit with difficulty

    I replaced a 10-year old First Alert CO710 unit. I bought the same model so as to avoid any installation problems. But I was unpleasantly surprised when I found it difficult to press the unit down on the two existing screws. Is it possible that the white plastic walls that the screw heads slide behind were slightly thicker? I was pushing down hard, but I didn't want to break it. I wound up putting new spackling in the holes that the anchors fit in, and loosening the two screws a bit. Hopefully, the unit and I will last until 2036.
